Maltese as a Foreign Language

Maltese remains the most spoken language in the Maltese islands.. Many sociologists claim that learning the language allows for foreigners and expats to truly integrate and feel part of the local community.. While English will get you around with no problems at all, learning the Maltese language helps you appreciate the rich history of the country and converse with Maltese. The Maltese language is in fact the only Semitic and Afro-Asiatic language in the EU. While having Semitic (Arabic) roots, it is deeply influenced by Romance languages as well as the Anglo-Saxon language.
