IM (Intermediate) Italian develops the candidates’ ability to understand the spoken and written forms from a variety of registers. It aims to encourage candidates to communicate confidently, clearly and effectively both through speaking and writing, using accurate linguistic forms which are appropriate in the context in which they are used, and to develop candidates’ insights into, and encourage contact with, the contemporary society, cultural background, literature and heritage of Italy. Furthermore, it provides a suitable foundation for further study and/or practical use of the foreign language.

IM (Intermediate) exam
The study area IM (Intermediate) Italian is informed by the National Curriculum Framework (NCF).
In order to sit for the Intermediate level examination, candidates should normally have acquired the knowledge, understanding and skills equivalent to those specified in the Italian SEC syllabus.
