Maltese SEC consists of a number of achievements of learning. The aims of this program are: the use of the language in production and interactions, the communicative skill and the sentence structure and literary form needed in different contexts, the precise use and analysis of the language, and the knowledge and appreciation of literary texts.

The study area SEC Maltese is informed by the National Curriculum Framework (NCF).
Maltese, our national language, is one of the core subjects, essential in our education system. Maltese is a way of communication and interaction which embraces in itself one community with diverse realities, and holds within it a linguistic and cultural identity whom the Maltese people have shaped and continue to shape over the ages. With the Maltese language, students continue to widen their personal development within the scholastic experience, as both an individual, as well as a Maltese and European citizen. Thanks to the Maltese language, students will continue to develop their skills and competence, and hence become more prepared for different job opportunities. The methodology that must be used in learning in the learning objectives of this syllabus is that I learn by doing and actively participating.
This syllabus aims to instill and develop awareness, skills, areas, competences and attitudes in all students by the end of their compulsory education. The main achievements of this syllabus are linked to the development of the language.
